Prairie Days at Homestead

The fourth grade spends a big chunk of time studying Colorado history.  They worked hard and put on a great production about what they've learned over the year.  Mia had three parts and loved being a part of it.

We're so proud of Mia and so proud of our state.  It was really cool seeing the kids take on the same level of pride.

We won't see this group of girls wearing prairie dresses anytime soon I bet.  I had to get a photo.

Easter!

Easter is a favorite holiday of mine.  I love the idea of rebirth, renewal, and new beginnings.  I love spring and the smells and colors during this time of year.  No holiday is "easy" for a mom but this one feels a bit easier in ways.  My mom hosted a beautiful Easter meal and those of us in Denver (minus Neil, Pam, and the girls) gathered like we do most years.  I take such comfort in our holiday traditions, and so do my kids.
No one can rival the way my mom sets a table.  It's always like a mini work of art: so thoughtful and creative.  I just had to get a picture of the beautiful colors.

Lyla and Hadley set up an egg hunt for these four.  We weren't going to do one, because the kids are older now, but we realized that they are still KIDS, even if they aren't little.  We filled the eggs with cash and they had a ball!

This was adorable.  Check out the next three photos.  An egg was hidden too high on this tree.  The four kids stood around and stared at it for a bit.

Then Mia attempted to climb it.

Finn failed too.

Finally, Finn just got down on his knees and told Mia to jump up and get it.  Team work!

My mom got this photo from behind and I love it.  We were having our picture taken by Hadley, whom you can't see, but this angle is fun.  It reminds me that parenthood is teamwork .  It take lots of energy and work to get to the happy moments of watching your kids run around happily  but the rewards are so incredible.

Hadley and Finn had already left by the time we thought to take this photo!  Nana and her grandkids.

Happy Easter!

Lacrosse

Mia is loving lacrosse this season!  She played her first game and the team did well.

Spring Break Staycation

Spring Break was so nice.  We had a "staycation" and did all things near us.  That has been our tradition and I have to say, not taking a vacation is sometimes a vacation in and of itself.  We skied Keystone, rode our bikes on the bike trail, went to lunch, visited friends who just moved back to town, stayed up too late and slept in.
