Mia and I had a great day skiing together.  It is rare that she and I will spend a whole day together without V or Luca but we planned a day to do it and we had a blast!  We listened to our music (read: Taylor Swift and other pop music) on the way up.  We ate brownies, fries, and mac and cheese for lunch, and had a fantastic time skiing.  It was a freezing day but we still loved being together.  She is a tough kid and a great skier.  She is one of my dearest friends, and because she is so young, and also my daughter, I used to feel funny saying that.  Now though, I say it with pride.  I'm lucky to know her.

Gotta love skiing, where helmet head is totally acceptable.  This beautiful, smart, wildly talented girl next to me is who I'd like to grow up and be more like.

Iphone Update

The kids introduced the Swear Jar.  I just figured putting cash in would be easier.  That's when you know you might swear a lot.  I'm laughing because I'm wondering if this jar was instituted in an effort to curb language or a way for the kids to collect money fast from their parents. 

Mia's class had a "Poetry Café" and it was the cutest event.  The classroom was decked out like a little café and there were cookies and candles out on every table, with light music playing as you walked in.  I was so impressed with the kids.  They each read a poem from a published poet and one of their own poems.  Mia read a Shakespeare poem from Macbeth and then a great limerick.  So proud!

As a family, we're working on this 1,000 piece puzzle.  I'll keep you posted.  So far so good!  Great winter project. 

Luca

Luca combed his hair, threw on his leather jacket, and hopped on his bike while hollering over his shoulder that he was heading to the park.  My heart almost burst.
