People ask if my kids still believe in Santa. I don't know really; I've never asked. There isn't much emphasis on him here around the house but they will tell the things they are "asking Santa to bring". I think they accept him as a cultural norm but don't put much stock in his value. I never understood perpetuating the myth to the extremes I see. People will say, "Oh but it's FUN!" or "It's so MAGICAL!" And he is those things...both fun and magical. I agree. But so is skiing. And dates with Dad to see the Moscow Ballet perform the Nutcracker (pics to come) or a night at a Nuggets game with amazing seats. Making homemade gifts for others is fun. Giving them is magical. Making new desserts is fun. Eating them is magical. So, for us, Santa is a cute prop in a photo every year. And while my kids are little enough to fit on someone's lap, I like visiting him.
