iphone update

Just loved this children's book cover.  The kids and I go to the library a lot and I scan the children's books the way some others scan their bank statements.  I thought this one was fresh and fun.

Daddy Date!!  V got GREAT seats to see the Nuggets and invited his youngest friend.  Luca is an AVID sports fan and can tell you about just any sport.  Here he is with his beloved daddy wearing a Gallinari jersey.  He informed me before he left for he game, "Gallinari won't be playing tonight.  Bum knee."  Luca is really coming into his own and it's a pleasure watching it.

V's friend got the tickets and here is the gang at the game.

Selfie!!

V not only got tickets to see the Nuggets, he also got tickets to see the Moscow Ballet perform the Nutcracker.  He invited his favorite tiny lady.  She was thrilled, and put that outfit together herself.  She has become quite the fashionista these days.  :)  I love that she still pulls her hair into a pony though on about half the days of the week and dons comfortable clothes.  She'll say, "Mom, I'm about half and half....you know...half fashionable, half regular."  Atta girl.

Santa

People ask if my kids still believe in Santa.  I don't know really; I've never asked.  There isn't much emphasis on him here around the house but they will tell the things they are "asking Santa to bring".  I think they accept him as a cultural norm but don't put much stock in his value.  I never understood perpetuating the myth to the extremes I see.  People will say, "Oh but it's FUN!"  or "It's so MAGICAL!"  And he is those things...both fun and magical.  I agree.  But so is skiing.  And dates with Dad to see the Moscow Ballet perform the Nutcracker (pics to come) or a night at a Nuggets game with amazing seats.  Making homemade gifts for others is fun.  Giving them is magical.  Making new desserts is fun.  Eating them is magical.  So, for us, Santa is a cute prop in a photo every year.  And while my kids are little enough to fit on someone's lap, I like visiting him.

Thanksgiving 2014

A sign greeted our guests.....

Didn't capture Finn in this photo but the kids played and had a cousin blast while we waited...and waited....for the turkey to finish cooking.

Emily made a comment that she finds most tablescape photos so boring.  I agreed. Unless they are my table scape photos.

A childhood photo....

that we tried to recreate.
