I like to go on one field trip with each of my kiddos. This year, I tagged along as a chaperone to the Stock Show with Luca's Kindergarten class and to the Wildlife Experience with Mia's second grade class. While volunteering is exhausting, it gives such insight into how our little people navigate the world when they are away from us. I love seeing how their friendships have evolved, how their relationships with their teachers are developing, and how they view me...as their mom. My heart sang when both of them reached out often to grab my hand, in front of their peers and others. They sat close on the school bus and giggled with their friends, pulling me tight into the circle. They are both still in that sweet spot of life where this family is a wonderful source of pride. I can hope it always remains that way, but I know it's normal to go through periods of life where you think other things are cooler. You quickly realize that nothing is cooler than family, but I'm reminding myself that it's normal to experiment.

| This is Luca and his very best friend at school, Brodie. These two are as thick as thieves. Have been since before kinder started. They actually both had their first negative note home on Friday. They both had to write notes to their parents explaining that they won't stop talking, even when their teacher has redirected them. Luca was so upset about getting into trouble, but if his crime is a tight friendship, than I'm not too concerned. |
